Abstract

This article examines the origins, development, and cultural significance of traditional festivals in France. Focusing on events such as Bastille Day, La Fête de la Musique, and regional festivals, the study explores how these celebrations have evolved over time, from their religious and historical roots to their contemporary forms. By analyzing historical, sociological, and economic perspectives, the article demonstrates how these festivals contribute to the French national and regional identities while also serving as key cultural and economic drivers. Through qualitative research that includes literature review, historical analysis, and interviews, the article highlights the challenges of balancing tradition with modern tourism and commercialization. The ongoing relevance of these festivals, both in preserving cultural heritage and fostering national unity, is emphasized, illustrating their role in contemporary French society.
