This article studies the relationship between the image of the landscape and the psychological state in English and Uzbek novels in a comparative-typological manner. The main object of the study is to determine the artistic and aesthetic function of natural landscapes in revealing the psyche of the hero in the works of Ernest Hemingway and Said Ahmad. In particular, the connection of the landscape with the plot, composition, image creation and psychological image is analyzed on the example of the novels of E. Hemingway “A Farewell to Arms” and S. Ahmad “Horizon”. During the study, attention is paid to the characteristics of the connection of natural phenomena, seasons, space, light and darkness, rain, mountains, rivers and other landscape details with the psychological experiences of the heroes. The results of the analysis show that in Hemingway’s work, the landscape is used as a concise, symbolic and indirect means of psychological image, while in the works of Said Ahmad, the image of nature is inextricably linked with the national space, social environment and human destiny. Also, the common aspects of the landscape in creating psychological parallelism, contrast and symbolism in the work of the two writers are identified. The study serves to reveal the general and national characteristics of the artistic relationship between nature and the human psyche in English and Uzbek literature.
